An Alternative Approach

​Reiki (“rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life force energy) is an ancient Japanese energy healing method that works to restore balance and harmony in one's body. It involves an experienced practitioner sending beneficial life force energy by distance to the recipient no matter where they are located. Reiki sessions help the body return to a state of relaxation allowing it to better heal from damage brought on by stress, injury, or sickness. It promotes healing and well-being by facilitating the flow of energy which, in turn, helps the body to heal. Reiki is considered a complementary therapy or alternative health approach and is not intended to be a replacement for conventional medical treatments.

Benefits of Reiki Sessions

The benefits of Reiki sessions are numerous. It can help decrease feelings of stress, fear and anxiety, aid in pain relief, improve sleep and promote emotional healing and well-being. As the body returns to a more balanced state of vibration, harmony and peace can be felt on all levels.

 

Because it is a safe and non-invasive treatment, there are no side effects whatsoever. As Reiki is a universal life-sustaining force, you can never be given too much or too little Reiki energy. The practitioner is merely a conduit channeling the higher energy and the body of the recipient will draw in and take what is most needed for them in that moment for their highest good. If you are experiencing any kind of discomfort or are simply feeling out of sorts, I highly recommend giving Reiki a try.

Safe and Non-Invasive Treatments

Reiki sensations can be very subtle, but Reiki works whether you feel it or not. A Reiki session generally lasts 30 minutes. During the session, the recipient may feel warmth, tingling, vibrations, or simply feel relaxed and calm. Most often, the person receiving the Reiki will feel sleepy as incoming Reiki energies soothe and calm pent-up emotional tension and stress.

 

Some people may feel an emotional release during or after a Reiki session. Some report seeing colors or having an increase in their focus and awareness. Some people do not feel anything at all, yet healing and change are still taking place on much deeper levels.​

After a Reiki Session

After a Reiki session, you may feel dehydrated and tired as toxins have been released in the body. These toxins need to be flushed out so it is very important to drink water right after your session and also to abstain from any physically or mentally demanding activities for the day.​

 

For 3 days following a Reiki session: avoid alcohol, limit caffeine and drink plenty of water to stay well-hydrated. Eat lighter healthier meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables and lean meats. Avoid red meat as it requires a lot of energy to digest it which could potentially interfere with the body's ability to fully absorb and utilize the Reiki energy.

Even one single Reiki session can make a difference; however for some people several treatments may be more effective. These can be scheduled once a week, biweekly or once a month depending on your needs.
